Lucky Lab would like to reintroduce Laredo, a gorgeous boy who is mostly Labrador Retriever.  Laredo is very smart and very eager to please his humans.  He absolutely thrives with routine and training. Laredo is also a dog who has had a few transitions early in his life.    Let us tell you about his story, and about how Lucky Lab and his amazing current foster has invested in this wonderful pup’s future in being the best boy he can be!

Laredo was rescued by Lucky Lab when he was just about 4 months old.  He spent a couple of months in our kennel and then traveled to New Hampshire to be with a wonderful foster family who loved him very, very much. And he loved them!!! He was a good boy there and was potty trained and learned other house manners.  He lived with a dog who was older than him and they got along well.  The cats, not so much!  He went on hikes, met family and friends, and got his exercise in a dog park.  Laredo was great in the car. If it weren’t for his enthusiasm with the cats, they would have adopted him.

Laredo was adopted after about 35 days with the foster family in New Hampshire and unfortunately, the match wasn’t the best for him.  In part it may have been because he had a lot of change in his young life, and prior to being fostered he hadn’t had any training.  Lucky Lab needed to find the right new home for him.  One of our amazing former adopters, who happens to be a professional trainer, stepped up and he and his wife agreed to foster Laredo and train him to get him ready for the home of his dream, a home that really must be his forever home!

Laredo has now been with this foster/trainer for 2 weeks and has done amazingly well!!! He will have another 2 weeks of training before he will go to his forever adoptive home. It has become clear that what Laredo needs to thrive and be his best self are humans who understand that a young dog with lots of zest for life and energy, who hasn’t had earlier training, is leadership from his people and routine, predictability, and continued work on his training.

What Laredo’s approved adopter will get is:

1.A rescue dog who is mostly Labrador Retriever-his former adopter had his DNA done and the result was mostly Lab with a tiny bit of Golden Retriever and German Shepard. 

2.A rescue dog who has had a month of professional training and knows basic commands, as well as other skills that are a work in process.

3.A rescue dog who is house broken and crate trained.

4.Laredo’s approved adopter will get a free 2-3 hour session with the current foster/trainer to learn about Laredo and how to continue with his training.

Laredo’s adopter must understand what Laredo needs and be committed to providing it.  It will be very important to continue to reinforce his training so that he can continue to thrive and be an awesome life-long companion! It will also be important to ensure that Laredo will get regular physical and mental exercise.

Laredo is neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and vet care.
